Your mini-van journey to this lofty destination in the Saint Elias Range follows the
Gold rush Trail of '98, made famous by thousands of Klondike stampeders. The route has
been carved by dog teams, horses, wagons, narrow gauge railway trains, a pipeline and the
new Klondike Highway which was finally blasted through to the Yukon in 1978. After passing through Skagway, you'll proceed up the river valley pausing frequently
for photo stops to locate the original "Dead horse Trail," the old Bracket Wagon
Road, the trestles and tunnels of the White Pass & Yukon Railroad, Pitchfork Falls,
Moore Bridge and numerous surrounding glaciers and peaks. You'll pause at the United States/Canada border at the summit before returning to
Skagway. Approximately 1-1/2 hours. |
