From the ship, you'll proceed directly to one of Singapore's Hindu Temples.
Although the Indian community comprises only 7% of Singapore's population, their religion,
culture, traditions and customs provide an endless source of interest and colorful
activity. Your journey will then continue north along tree-lined avenues to the causeway linking
Singapore to the Malayan Peninsular. there you will be assisted through immigration
and customs formalities, before continuing on to Johore Baru in Malaysia. Soon after arrival, you'll visit the royal Abu Bakar Museum. As you browse through this former home of Johore's ruler, you'll come face-to-face with artifacts from a dynasty spanning centuries. Your acquaintance with Johore Baru will also feature exterior views of the Moorish-styled sultan Abu Bakar Mosque and the imposing sultan Ibrahim Building, where the state government offices are housed. You'll also see the royal Mausoleum and the Istana Bukit Serene, which is the Sultan of Johore's present home. Then mingle with the locals as you stroll through the colorful bazaar. Perhaps
you'll bargain for such prized handicrafts as batik items, basketware, pottery, pewter or
other souvenirs. An East meets West buffet lunch will be served at the Putir Pan
Pacific Hotel before you return to the border and complete the formalities necessary to
return to Singapore. Approximately 7 hours. |
