Melbourne has been dubbed the Garden Capital of Australia. This city highlights' program will journey past verdant parks and along tree-lined boulevards. After leaving Station Pier by air-conditioned motor coach, you'll proceed down the Esplanade to St. Kilda and Elwood, passing attractive inner city beaches. After traversing South Yarra, you'll pass the quaint antique shops and designer boutiques of Toorak, in the fashionable "Paris End" of Melbourne. Next, you'll proceed to the Botanical Gardens, which cover an area of 86 acres and contain 10,000 species of plants. They extend to the shores of the Yarra River and are landscaped in the 18th-century traditional English style. See the ornamental lake, with its six islands, which was constructed when the Yarra was straightened. The sweeping lawns, the fern gully and a chain of shimmering lakes were all created by Mr. William Guilfoyle during his 36 years as director.
Light refreshments will be enjoyed in the gardens before you return to Crystal Symphony past the Shrine of Remembrance, the spectacular Victorian Arts Center, Melbourne University and the Carlton district's picturesque terraced houses. Approximately 4 hours
