Experience a time-honored welcome reminiscent of years gone by and discover the rich living culture of Southeast Alaska's Indian tribes.

At Saxman Village, just three miles from Ketchikan, tribal elders and others have proudly passed on ancestral traditions to new generations. As you stroll through the village, you'll discover the results of these efforts firsthand.

Indian culture traditions are revealed as skilled totem carvers busily toil in the village Carving Center. Nearby, young performers demonstrate dances and relate tribal stories in the Beaver Clan House. Your hosts will eagerly share their history, art and ancestors' way of life and explain the mysteries surrounding the majestic totem poles standing sentinel over the present generation.

During your return to the ship, you'll pass Creek Street's gift shop, galleries and museum.

Approximately 2 to 2-1/2 hours.
