Your adventure will begin with a thrilling ten-minute tram ascent to the 1,700-foot
level of Mt. Roberts. There will be time to savor the fine views from the upper tram
terminal before adjourning to the nearby Nature Center. Approximately thirty-minutes later, you'll commence hiking up the trail to Gastineau
Peak. En route you'll progress through temperate rain forest and impressive alpine
environments while learning about Southeast Alaska's unique flora. Your experienced
naturalist guide will share stories of Juneau's colorful gold mining history and the vast
gold mine that lies within Mt. Roberts. Weather conditions permitting, there are
spectacular panoramas to be enjoyed from the ridge trail. From Gastineau Peak, you'll return to the tram for the ride back to the Juneau
waterfront. Approximately 4 hours. |
