You'll begin by taking the Evans Pass Road, by way of the pretty seaside suburb of Sumner, to Christchurch. On arrival in the city, there will be photo stops at the Arts Centre and in Cathedral Square, where some of the city's finest Gothic architecture is located. Your sightseeing will continue by way of the University of Canterbury and the rural district of Tai Tapu to the Hilltop, for panoramic views of Akaroa Harbor and the Onawe Peninsula. After lunch at the French Farm Winery, splendidly located in the Wainui Valley, you will continue to the South Island. French colonists arrived there 250 years ago and today their Gallic influence remains in the architecture and street names. A visit to the museum will provide insight into fascinating local heritage, before you take a short stroll through this settlement's picturesque streets. Back aboard the coach, you'll proceed over the Hilltop to Little River, pausing at Manderley Farm. Your charming hosts, Ross and Mary Millar, await your arrival with a hearth afternoon tea. Later, an entertaining display will reveal the importance of dogs in the successful operation of a sheep farm. Your return to Crystal Symphony in Lyttelton is across Gebbies Pass and Governors Bay.
