From Lyttelton, you'll begin with a quick look at the essential highlights of Christchurch. Soon, your coach will proceed across the Canterbury Plains to Springfield, where your train is ready for boarding. Then sit back and marvel at breathtaking alpine scenery during your ascent through the National Park to Arthur's Pass. Your rail journey passes through numerous tunnels, up remote river gorges and over high mountain passes. On arrival at Arthur's Pass, a delicious lunch will be served in the Alpine Chalet Restaurant. During the early afternoon, you'll continue to Dean's Farm near Sheffeld to witness a shearing demonstration and to observe highly trained dogs mustering a flock of sheep. Your gracious hosts will then serve a tasty afternoon tea. Lovers of train travel and spectacular scenery won't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
