The Montserrat Mountain range lying northwest of Barcelona is one of Spain's most picturesque areas.  Barren rock formations soar skywards like towering stone fingers.

You'll first take a quick overview of Barcelona's most important highlights, including las Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia and the Sagrada Familia.

From the city, you'll then head out though picturesque countryside on a 40-mile drive to the Montserrat region.  The famous Montserrat Monastery is a Benedictine Abbey, which was founded during the 11th Century.  It  lies perched on a ledge 2,400 feet above the river Llobregat, in an area said to be the inspiration for Wagner's "Parsifal."  The 16th-century basilica and Catalonia's patron saint, the 12th-century Black Virgin of Montserrat await your discovery.

A special delight will be a performance by the Escolania children's choir, which is the oldest of its type in Europe.  Just 30 minutes away, lies the delightful Can Amat Restaurant, set within a Catalan country house.  enjoy a tasty three-course lunch complemented with wine before returning to Crystal symphony in the late afternoon.

Approximately 6-1/2 hours.
