The rocks, the city's oldest village, lies adjacent to our pier at Circular Quay. Beside its narrow twisting streets lies a heritage spanning two centuries. Gathered here are taverns, a village green and convict-build warehouses, which have been restored with meticulous taste and sensitivity. Numerous handsome buildings, many dating from Victorian times, line city streets. The ornate traditional architecture of the Queen Victoria Building contrasts sharply with the sleek Sydney Tower and Opera House. other points of interest include the modern Darling Harbor complex and atmospheric Chinatown. Many of Sydney's most desirable suburbs are located to the east. From Darling Point to Watson's Bay the shore is lined with vast mansions and luxury apartments overlooking a flotilla of colorful sail and cruising boats. You'll pass the sidewalk cafes and designer boutiques of double Bay before continuing to Watson's Bay for superb views of the magnificent city skyline. Your return to the city is through the leafy streets of Paddington filled with terraced houses framed with iron-laced balconies, sandstone cottages, fashionable shops, art galleries and trendy cafes. This is the perfect introduction for first-time visitors to Sydney. Approximately 3-1/2 hours. |
