Travel back in time to Port Arthur, one of Australia's most feared penal colonies.  More than ten thousand English convicts were sent here over a turbulent 40-year period.

You'll pass through gently rolling countryside and quaint townships on your 60-mile drive by air-conditioned coach to Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula..

A knowledgeable park ranger will then accompany you on foot through the carefully restored Port Arthur site.  You'll see the penitentiary, the convict designed church and the model prison, which was a radical design experiment for the times.  Other points of interest will include the hospital and Old Guard House.

In the early afternoon, a tasty barbecue lunch with wine awaits at the Bush Mill, a replica of a logging mill formerly manned by convicts.

Then it's all aboard the Bush Mill Mountain Railway for a 15-minute steam train ride, before continuing by coach to the Bonorong Wildlife Park for close-up views of native fauna, including the famed "Tassie" Devil.

Top off this rewarding day with a brief scenic drive featuring Hobart's essential highlights before returning to the ship.

Approximately 9 hours.
