Jerusalem is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities.  View its essential highlights in this comprehensive day of sightseeing.

The 45-mile journey across the Judean mountains to Jerusalem will take approximately one hour.  Your exploration will begin at the Mount of Olives, for breathtaking views over the old quarter.

You'll then proceed to the dung Gate for an in-depth two-hour walking tour through the narrow cobblestone streets of the old walled city.  Although you'll be surrounded by throngs of people, we are pleased to advise that your walk is downhill.  The Western Wall, site of Solomon's Temple and the Temple Mount, will be among the many wondrous sight you'll witness.  then stroll the Via Dolorosa to the church of the holy sepulchre, which stand on the site of Jesus' crucifixion.  Before reboarding your coach, you'll continue to the Cardo Jewish quarter, which was ancient Jerusalem's main shopping street.

After leaving the old city, you'll adjourn for lunch at a hotel on the Mount of Olives with expansive views over the golden city.

In the afternoon, you'll proceed past Rachel's tomb to Bethlehem and the church of the nativity.  Quite recently, it was discovered that the intricate original mosaic flooring has survived intact.  Beneath the alter is the venerated holy site of Jesus' birth, accessible by a steep flight of stairs.

A 30-minute stop will be made at Bethlehem's main tourist shopping area which is styled in true bazaar manner.  Refreshments will be served for your enjoyment before you return to the ship.

Approximately 8 hours.
