Peaceful little Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Islands, known as "the islands adrift in time."  This paradise of tropical rainforests and rugged hillsides, still under British rule, saw some of the fiercest fighting of W.W.II.   Visit the moving war museum, or tour the handicraft center, with its impressive collection of wood carvings and woven baskets.
