This tiny British colony sits on the southern tip of Spain, where the Mediterranean meets the might Atlantic, and Europe reaches out to touch Africa. In ancient times it marked the boundary of the known world; today "The Rock" is the last bastion of British rule on the Mediterranean. Watch for the Barbary apes, Europe's only wild monkeys, which residents consider a symbol of British rule.
